Cloudnine Group of Hospitals collaborates with Ola to enable mobility for expecting mothers

Bengaluru, April 13, 2020:   In response to the growing customer demands for transportation services during the health crisis caused by the outbreak of COVID-19, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, India’s leading chain of maternity, fertility and child care has collaborated with Ola, India’s leading mobility platform, to offer mobility services to its customers. This service will be available across all six Cloudnine centres in Bengaluru located in Jayanagar, Old Airport Road, Malleshwaram, Bellandur, Whitefield and HRBR layout. Following the government’s advice, booking an Ola ride will remain restricted to essential visits to the hospital only.

As a part of this collaboration in Bengaluru, Ola will station its cabs at each Cloudnine hospital. A special area has been designated for Ola pick-ups and drop-offs where Cloudnine staff will help customers in and out of the vehicles. All the bookings will be facilitated to the customers through the Cloudnine call centre. 

This service comes as an extension to the hospital’s recently launched teleconsultation services allowing customers to consult doctors from their homes via video thereby avoiding all the non- essential travel to the hospital.  Doctors will advise patients to visit the hospital only when there is an urgent need to undergo a medical scan or test which requires immediate attention.

Ola Group contributes ₹5 crores towards PM CARES Fund and ₹3 crores towards Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of various states to support COVID-19 relief measures

Bengaluru, 9th April 2020: Ola Group, which operates Ola, India’s largest mobility platform, has pledged a sum of ₹5 crores to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES)  Fund to support COVID-19 relief measures at a national level. The Group has also committed a sum of ₹3 crores towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of various states. The Ola Group includes various business units including its ride-hailing arm, Ola Mobility, Ola Financial Services, Ola Foods and Ola Electric.

The Ola Group and its employees have already contributed INR 20 crores towards this cause, while Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder and CEO, Ola has forgone his 1 year’s salary towards the fund. This long term fund will help drivers and their families through and beyond this pandemic, through various initiatives including financial support for medical emergencies as well as essential supplies distribution in driver communities.

Ola temporarily suspends shared rides amidst COVID outbreak

In our efforts to curb the spread of COVID- 19, we are temporarily suspending the “Ola Share” category until further notice. 

The health and safety of our driver-partners and customers are of utmost importance and we have taken several steps in this regard to ensure the highest levels of hygiene are maintained in the vehicles on the platform. The temporary suspension of Ola Share services is an attempt to encourage social distancing for all cases of essential travel for citizens. 

We will continue to support all essential travel across India through our other offerings like Micro, Mini, and Prime as well as Rental and Outstation services.  Our Partner Care teams and Safety Response teams are available 24×7 for any concerns that may arise for driver-partners and customers respectively. We encourage everyone to proactively report any instance that may be symptomatic for us to help action and guide appropriately.

Baby delivered in a cab en route to the hospital; Ola driver partner saves the day!

Childbirth exudes both pain and joy, courage and sacrifice, duty and love. To witness all these qualities in one instance is nothing short of amazing, and that’s exactly what happened in an Ola cab ride on October 2nd, 2017.

At about 8 AM, driver partner, Yashwant Galande (27) reached to pick up his customer who turned out to be an anxious expecting mother, and her family member. Realising, the customer is due to deliver very soon, Yashwant steadily drove the cab to the Kamla Nehru Hospital in Somwar Pet, as her pain kept increasing. Midway through the trip, the  baby’s cries were suddenly heard in the backseat – the baby was born. After a quick check on the safety and comfort of the new-born and the mother, Yashwant drove them to the hospital where the mother got the required medical attention. 

Both; the mother and the baby are safe and healthy, and the family is extremely grateful to Yashwant for safely taking them to the hospital in time. Ola applauds Yashwant and is proud to have him as a driver partner. 

Ola has presented the baby and the mother with free rides for the next five years as a gift. These rides can be availed by a special coupon, named after the baby.  

Yashwant said, “The entire trip was an anxious experience. I never thought I would help deliver a baby in the line of duty.” He is also felicitated for being a Hero for Ola and humanity at large, going to extra mile to help passengers in need.

Ola deploys free Shuttles and Share rides for stranded citizens in rain-hit Mumbai

In the wake of heavy downpours and severe waterlogging in the city of Mumbai, India’s most popular mobility platform, Ola, has launched free Shuttle services to rescue stranded citizens across the city. Ola Shuttles are efficiently transporting larger groups of people safely, with the city’s public transportation services being affected. The Shuttles will be plying across major routes in the city such as Airports to Andheri Station and Vashi to Ghatkopar, to and fro. Along with the Shuttle services, Ola Share has also been made available for free on the app for all customers today. In addition to these free services, peak pricing has been withdrawn since yesterday, across all categories.

Working with the Fire Department, yesterday, Shuttle services were deployed across key locations such as Powai, BKC, Goregaon, Domestic Airport, and Lower Parel. Shuttles can be easily identified by the Ola logo and representatives sporting Ola T-shirts, operating these services in affected areas to improve availability of transportation in the city.  They can be availed by heading to identified pickup points. Ankur Nyati, City General Manager of Mumbai said, “The city of Mumbai has been experiencing torrential rains in the last 24 hours, making it nearly impossible for individuals to return home safely. In this time, we immediately deployed free Shuttle services and even Boats in some severely waterlogged areas, to help as many stranded citizens. Shuttles will continue to ply in the city today along with free Share rides to ferry citizens safely to their destinations. We are working very closely with the authorities to ensure that rescue operations reach Mumbaikars at the earliest. As a mobility solution that is built ground up in India, it is our duty to ensure that citizens have access to reliable transportation even in the face of such calamities. We are thankful to driver partners of these vehicles who continue to extend their unconditional support to their fellow citizens by helping them to safety.”

Ola deployed a few boats as well, in key distress areas like Andheri to help and rescue citizens stranded in knee-deep waters, without any fee. Ola stands by Mumbaikars, the general public as well as its driver partners and applauds their spirit in these trying times.

 

Bengaluru roots for shared mobility! Cheers on as Ola organizes flash mobs and street plays across the city

Ola Share’s year-long #FarakPadtaHai campaign urges Indians to share rides and take a step towards decongesting the city 

Bengalureans were in for a surprise on Thursday morning when they got to witness a flash mob while crossing one of city’s most congested areas, Silk Board Junction. Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation, organized multiple flash mobs in and around that area, engaging tens of thousands of people who cross the busy junction every day. Street plays were also organized at some of the city’s other key locations such as Forum Mall in Koramangala, MG Road Metro Station, and Byappanahalli Metro Station,

Rolled out as part of the recently launched year-long campaign #FarakPadtaHai, the activities were organised to encourage more citizens to opt for Ola Share, Ola’s shared mobility offering, and contribute towards decongesting the city’s roads.

In Bengaluru, the performers appealed to the audience with the message of using shared mobility by dancing to the foot-tapping beats of djembe drums. The creatively choreographed street plays by WeMove Theatre also garnered a warm reception from the onlookers, as the artists unfolded the message at the right time, to the right audience.

Ola’s Outstation insights shows that Mumbaikars & Delhiites vacation the most; data from connecting 700+ cities within a year

Ola, India’s leading mobile app for transportation, shared user insights on business and leisure travel patterns of Indians, on the occasion of one-year completion of Ola Outstation, its smart mobility solution for inter-city travel. Analysis of the user and ride data generated from the Ola Outstation category collected May 2016 onwards, has thrown up some interesting trends on consumer preferences for weekend getaways, popular tourist destinations, average travel days, and popular months through the year for outstation travel.

Mumbai – Where most Ola Outstation trips originate: The report takes into consideration preference of commuters across 700 cities in the country that are connected by Ola’s Outstation offering. As per the findings, Mumbai leads the pack of vacationers in the country, closely followed by Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Top locations on Ola Outstation: The data shows that travelers in India seem to prefer weekend getaways more than longer vacations. Mumbaikars love to hop onto an Ola Outstation to travel to places such as Pune, Lonavala, and Imagica; following suit are Delhiites who have fed their wanderlust through trips to places such as Agra, Neemrana and Jaipur. Punekars have hailed Ola Outstation the most to go to Mumbai, Lonavala and Lavasa. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway is one of the most travelled expressways in India.

Travelers love to escape to the Himalayan resort town, Manali, which has emerged as the favourite hill station. They also love to soak the sun in the famous beach town – Puducherry. Shirdi in Maharashtra has emerged as the most preferred pilgrimage destination, followed by Tirupati and Haridwar. Some other frequently visited locations across the country include; Agra, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Puri and Mysuru.
